The ultimate goal of IHRRI’s Campaign to stop Killer Robots is to get the Ghana Parliament to sign the International Treaty to Ban Killer Robots.
On 22nd February 2022, we got an invitation to Ghana Parliament and were received by Hon. Nana Yaw Teddy, Ayensuano Constituency Member of Parliament.
IHRRI, led by Mr. Arthur Emmanuel, made a presentation on the campaign to stop Killer Robots to the Ghanian members of parliaments. He also appealed to the Honorable MPs to add their voices to the campaign and make the house see the need for them to enact laws that will prevent the manufacturing and sale of autonomous weapons referred to as Killer Robots in Ghana.
Hon. Nana Yaw Teddy, the outspoken Member of Parliament, who is held in high esteem by the people of Ayensuano Constituency for recently speaking on the floor of Parliament on the construction of the 40-bed capacity hospital in Ayensuano District. The MP assured IHRRI that he would convey our campaign message to other MPs and stakeholders on the need to prioritize this issue for Ghana to sign the International Treaty to Ban Killer Robots.
